Tim Madden is a 13-year old middle school student who participated in his first Brendan Sailing Program last season in Annapolis. He said it was a lot of fun and with the patient and encouraging guidance of Charlie Arms and Evan McCarthy, he was able to pick up the sport. His favorite part of camp was being out on the water sailing with the other students. On the last day of camp he took his sister and uncle out on the water to show off his newly found sailing skills. Tim’s sister, Charlotte, was impressed by his competence on the water, as was his uncle who is an avid sailor. His mother Linda was also encouraged to see Tim’s social interactions, team work, and confidence on the water.

Winter is a good time for me to take advantage of continuing education opportunities. While the US Sailing National Symposium is not new to me (going on 18 years of attendance) this year’s theme was one of Diversity and Inclusion. These topics especially resonated with what we do at Brendan Sailing. With record breaking attendance, I was able to network with many sailing organizations. Our focus on youth with Learning Differences is unique in the industry. Our development of the Brendan Approach Instructor Training can help fill the need for many organizations who serve this population.
Hello Brendan Community, With warm weather right around the corner we are excited to begin another successful summer at Brendan Sailing. We have begun our pre-season preparation and are eager to get out back on the water. This summer will be our biggest yet and we are humbled and thrilled to be continuing to host our two base programs in Annapolis and St. Mary’s College of Maryland in June/July. These are our staple programs and we would not be able to do it without the help of Annapolis Sailing School and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
