Message from Executive Director Charlie Arms
Hello Brendan Families, This Summer we had another spectacular season filled with learning, growth, and expansion. We saw an increase in enrollment across programs, teaching more than 30 children with learning differences sailing while building their self-esteem. We even had a camper fly all the way from Washington State who found us through an article in Sailing Magazine highlighting the Brendan Sailing Program. It's great to see that we are successfully getting the word out about our base camps in Maryland. We aim to continue the trend of expanding our reach in the future.
We also welcomed two new instructors: Madeline Wallace and Will Avis. Along with Evan and myself, the four of us were able to build a great rapport with the campers. We incorporated some fun new activities into our curriculum, including the awesome Schooner Woodwind, remote control sailing, and further development of STEM education within our lesson plans.
With Summer behind us, we will be back at it again running our After-School Sailing Program in Washington DC, hosted at DC Sail this Fall. We are continuing to work to grow our programs through marketing and social media, but please be sure to help us by spreading the word. Word of mouth is still by far our biggest marketing tool and we cannot thank the parents enough who have helped us get in touch with children and families that could benefit from Brendan Sailing. Thanks to everyone for another great season!
